This is the redesigned Nihongoresources J↔E dictionary search engine. For the moment it has a particulary simple webpage up, intended to give you a working alternative to the current engine running on www.nihongoresources.com, but this page will in due time be placed in a framework designed to make crosslinked searching within all the dictionaries and databases much easier, and much more intuitive.

Romaji is autoconverted to hiragana and katakana (all common IME input is accepted). When input is set to "automatically", any word that uses legal romaji will be interpreted as romaji input, rather than western input. If you know you're searching for an English word that is written as something that can be considered legal romanised Japanese, simply click the "search English" button. If you're typing in Japanese, there will not be a need to explicitly pick hiragana, katakana, or kanji as input; the autodetection for these inputs simply cannot go wrong. However, they are available in case you want to bypass autodetection (although autodetection takes 0 seconds to run, so there's no real point in bypassing it). Available wildcards are * and * (ascii and Japanese respectively), which you can also click to add to your search input.

If you find any bugs in this preliminary page or its functioning, please go to my contact page and send me an email explaining what you did for things to break, or log on to irchighway's IRC network and join #nihongo.
